Cosmonauts Comedy Night
Friday 19 February
IMAX Theatre, 19.30
Science Museum, Exhibition Rd, London SW7 2DD
Join us for an out-of-this-world evening of space-themed comedy and music with Robin Ince, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Darren Hayman, and your compère Helen Keen.
One of Britian’s most popular comics, Robin Ince is equally well-known as a populariser of science. Among his credits are the stage shows Lessons and Carols for Godless People, The Book Club and School for Gifted Children. He co-presents the Sony Award-winning science-and-comedy show The Infinite Monkey Cage on BBC Radio 4 with Brian Cox.
Festival of the Spoken Nerd is the science comedy phenomenon that’s taking the UK by storm with a mix of astonishing science and statistically significant comedy, plus experiments that leave audiences electrified – sometimes literally.
Formerly the singer-songwriter with fondly remembered indie-folk band Hefner, Darren Hayman has long been fascinated by space exploration. Tonight he sings a selection of songs about the unsung heroes of spaceflight, Russian space dogs. He’ll also perform tracks from his as-yet unreleased album about the astronauts who walked on the moon.
Lifelong space enthusiast Helen Keen is a multi-award winning writer, comedy performer and broadcaster. It Is Rocket Science, her pioneering space-science-history-stand-up show for BBC Radio 4, has won numerous awards.
