New Scientist Live
Festival of the Spoken Nerd at New Scientist Live!
Friday 23rd September, ExCel London
In this special show for New Scientist Live, stand-up mathematician Matt Parker and experiments maestro Steve Mould of Festival of the Spoken Nerd are joined by guest Nerd and robot enthusiast Helen Keen, star of Radio 4’s “It IS Rocket Science”. They’ll show you how to start a fire with a satellite dish, datalog the birth of a child, prove that everything you watch on TV is just a series of spreadsheets, and update a few pieces of retro tech to make them fit for whatever the future may bring.
The Spoken Nerd trio of Matt Parker, Helen Arney and Steve Mould regularly perform sell-out shows on stages all over the UK, from Shakespeare’s Globe to the Hammersmith Apollo and have accumulated over 35 million views on YouTube for their experiments, songs and stand-up. Their most recent tour played to more than 15,000 nerds and non-nerds, while their latest DVD and download “Full Frontal Nerdity” and BBC Radio 4 series “Domestic Science” have turned science and maths into riotous laughter for many more curious comedy fans.
The Nerds will take the science and technology of the future – and of the past – and use it to tickle your ribs and light your Bunsen burner. Full Frontal Nerdity guaranteed!
